Inside his office Arthur Rosenfeld holds a plasma energy ball. Arthur Rosenfeld, a nuclear physicist-turned-father-of-energy-efficiency. Rosenfeld spent much of his career as a research physicist; now he's squarely in the field of policy as a state energy commissioner, and an influential voice in the battle against climate change. This month, Rosenfeld turns 80. The day before his birthday, he will travel to Washington DC to pick up the Enrico Fermi award, the federal government's oldest award for scientific achievement.
